Preliminary Auditions
Every singer who is eligible to enter the Lexus Song Quest has an āheinga to audition by video. Applicants are invited to record and upload their audition piece for assessment by preliminary judges.
At the end of the auditions process, the Preliminary Judges select ten semi-finalists to compete at the Semi-Finals. By mid April, entrants have received the call to say whether they’ll proceed to the next round and be required to submit their Semi-Final and Grand Final music selections along with their study proposals.
Session with Head Judge
All semi-finalists have the opportunity to meet with the Head Judge in Te Whanganui-a-Tara before the Semi-Finals. These individual sessions with the Head Judge is an opportunity for Semi-Finalists to discuss their professional development proposals .
Semi-finals Time
Each semi-finalist performs two waiata and one aria with piano accompaniment at a series of live Semi-Final concerts held across two nights in Wellington.

Lexus Song Quest Grand Final Gala
Wellington's Michael Fowler Centre is the prestigious venue for the Lexus Song Quest Grand Final Gala.
On the night, each finalist sings one waiatawith piano accompaniment and two arias accompanied by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. The Winner, Runner Up and Third Place are announced live on stage by the Head Judge.

For the Lexus Song Quest prize-winners, there are exciting possibilities ahead for continuing the development of their careers, thanks to a great suite of prizes.
