Morgan-Andrew King is a rising Māori bass from Tahaaroa, Waikato, New Zealand. He has graduated with a postgraduate certificate of Professional Studies in Opera from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, USA and from the Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music with a Bachelor of Music, First Class Honors. He is the recipient of numerous prestigious scholarships and mentorship from the likes of Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, the Dame Malvina Major Foundation Scholarship, the Deane Endowment Trust Scholarship, Waikanae Music Society Scholarship and Circle100 travel and career development award. He was also a member of the New Zealand Opera School in 2021 and 2023.
Morgan has debuted a range of operatic roles internationally, with performances in the US, Italy and Australia, notably performing with the Williams Opera Company and Curtis Opera Theatre in the US, and the Mediterranean Opera Studio and Festival in Sicily. He explored the fusion of Māori music and opera while touring around Aotearoa with the quartet and he has played roles for New Zealand Opera and Wellington Opera and frequently performs as a bass soloist in choral works across New Zealand.
